You doctors need to know if you have any of these conditions:
- An unusual or allergic reaction to acarbose other medicines foods dyes or preservatives;

- Liver disease;

- Stomach or bowel disease or obstruction;

Precose Interaction

Do not take Precose with any of the following medications:
- Thyroid hormones;
- Steroid medicines like prednisone or cortisone;
- Phenytoin;
- Phenothiazines like chlorpromazine mesoridazine prochlorperazine thioridazine;
- Nicotinic acid;
- Medicines for high blood pressure called beta-blockers and calcium channel-blockers;
- Medicines for colds or breathing difficulties like pseudoephedrine or phenylephrine;
- Isoniazid;
- Female hormones like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills;
- Diuretics;
- Digoxin;
- Digestive enzymes like amylase and pancreatin;
- Charcoal;

Precose Side Effects

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:
- Yellowing of the eyes or skin;
- Weight loss;
- Unusually weak or tired;
- Loss of appetite;
- Dark urine;

Allergic reactions like:
- Hives;
- Itching;
- Skin rash;
- Swelling of the face lips or tongue;

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention:
- Upset;
- Stomach pain;
- Stomach gas;
- Rumbling;
- Diarrhea;
- Bloated feeling;
